| | What is the role of the Evaluator?
An evaluator is an aviation practitioner who is appointed by CAMC to witness and attest that required tasks and sub-tasks are performed competently. The evaluator observes the completion of each task and attests that is had been completed in a satisfactory manner consistent with current standards, including identifying the appropriate standards, selecting the correct tools, performing the task without direct supervision and completing all the necessary documentation. The evaluator plays a key role in the CAMC certification system by mentoring, witnessing and attesting to an applicant’s successful completion of required tasks. The CAMC-approved evaluator is an aviation practitioner with experience in the same occupation as the applicant seeking certification. Usually in a supervisory position, s/he is thoroughly familiar with the tasks identified in the CAMC logbook and is able to assess the applicant’s abilities to carry out the assigned tasks effectively and without supervision. Evaluators are appointed by the Council based on recommendations by the applicant’s employer. To nominate an individual for evaluator status, the employer must forward a formal letter of nomination to the CAMC Registrar, along with a completed Evaluator Data Form. A résumé outlining the individual’s background and experience in the occupation is also required. At this time, it is recommended that individuals applying for evaluator status be CAMC-certified members. Individuals appointed by the Council as CAMC-approved evaluators receive a copy of the National Occupational Standard (OS) for their occupation, as well as a certificate and wallet card confirming their status. They are then authorized to sign applicant logbooks in their specific occupation. CAMC is pleased to announce the launch of the CAMC Evaluators Chatroom!
