Bill Zoeller Announced as New Executive Director of CAMC

OTTAWA:

Les Aalders Acting Executive Director of the Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council (CAMC) is pleased to announce, on behalf of the Board of Directors, the appointment of Bill Zoeller as the new Executive Director as of May 1, 2006.

 

Mr. Zoeller joins CAMC from Air Canada Technical Services (ACTS) where he recently retired after an impressive 31-year career. Zoeller joined Air Canada (AC) in 1974 as an apprentice avionics technician and worked in AC’s Toronto, Dorval and Winnipeg facilities. In 2000 he received his Master of Business Administration from Queen’s University and was named President and CEO of ACTS in 2004.

 

According to Mr. Aalders, “Zoeller has been a strong supporter of CAMC throughout the years. He will now be in the key position to lead CAMC in its growth…The Board and I look forward to a dynamic future for CAMC and its membership under his leadership.”

 

In his comments about the industry and CAMC’s role in it, Mr. Zoeller stated: “Be it an airline, an MRO or an OEM, our industry depends on skilled professionals to provide a quality product, to ensure a safe and dependable flight, and to determine and provide  the specialized service offerings that keep the customers coming back for more.  And that’s where CAMC comes in. It has played a supportive, strategic and critical role in laying the foundation for the success that Canadian-based aviation professionals and companies have experienced in recent years. CAMC’s role will only grow in importance as the industry continues to expand.”

 

Mr. Zoeller went on to add that he looks forward to working with the individuals, groups, companies and staff that make up CAMC, in tackling the challenges which lie ahead.

The Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council (CAMC) is an all-stakeholder, not-for-profit organization responsible for the human resources strategy for aviation maintenance and aerospace manufacturing in Canada. As the aviation industry's sector council, CAMC champions industry initiatives by developing National Occupational Standards for skilled occupations as well as providing professional certification for technicians.  CAMC also develops curriculum standards, accredits programs for training institutions, implements youth orientation programs, and identifies workforce recruitment and retention strategies.
