CAMC Partners with Industry to provide improved Quality Assurance Occupational Standards

CAMC has developed a 2 day test project workshop based on the Quality Systems Auditor Occupational Standard because there were requests from the industry concerned with SMS implementation and the requirement of QA as part of SMS.   CAMC has heard through focus group meetings that companies and individual auditors are interested on achieving this certification because it provides evidence of due diligence as well as insuring there is no performance gap between company policy and procedure.

CAMC, in partnership with regional aviation and aerospace associations will facilitate the following Quality Systems Auditor Occupational Standard implementation workshops:

National Occupational Standards

The Occupational Standards are developed through a process called an occupational analysis.  CAMC directs the performance of an occupational analysis with the assistance of subject-matter experts who work together to document the tasks and sub-tasks executed by workers in the performance of their duties.  The analysis also itemizes the knowledge requirements to perform each task and sub-task, including equipment and tools utilized to accomplish them.

An Occupational Standard (OS) identifies the tasks performed in a particular occupation and describes the knowledge and skills required to perform these tasks competently.  The OS also forms the basis for the accompanying logbook and the development of a curriculum, which allow the certification of technicians and the accreditation of training programs.  It is therefore extremely important that the OS be accurate.

To date, CAMC has developed national occupational standards for the following 26 aviation and aerospace occupations:

* These occupational standards have been recognized by Transport Canada (Airworthiness Notice AN C009) for personnel working in an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO).
