Aviation Maintenance Orientation Program (AMOP) Schools
Twenty (20) high schools across Canada currently participate in the CAMC youth aviation maintenance orientation program:
The AMOP Program, part of the CAMC Youth Internship Program, provides students with an academic orientation and work-based experience in aviation maintenance and technology. The program aims to develop interest among youth in careers within aviation and aerospace. It also establishes pathways for the transition from school to the working world of the aviation and aerospace industry. With twenty (20) high schools across Canada, approximately 400 students from grades 9 through 12 are participating in the program each year. The Air Cadet League of Canada and its 25,000+ cadets have also recently joined the program.
The Youth Internship Program has been developed in consultation with stakeholders in the industry and is an important component of the Canadian Aviation Maintenance Council's strategic plan. The continued successful of this project will generate a major increase in participation and school/community based career experiences.
There is every reason to believe that the program will continue to grow - the YIP provides an important and exciting link to a career in the aviation industry. We look forward to many more participants benefiting from this program in the future.
